The Good Body Meme
November 18, 2004

Just when you thought you'd seen it all on pugsplace: Pugs, politics, homosexuality, and angry white female poetry...it was only a matter of time before Feminism entered the scene. "Mama always said Blogs are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get". And FYI, "Religion" may not be far behind because I really feel like I need to get myself to church on Sunday.

But today's topic dujour is the Good Body. Eve Ensler, author/playwright of the Vagina Monologues has now come out with a new play called the Good Body, in which she explores women's long suffering negative body image and looks to dispell the myth that you don't have to be a perfect size 2 in order to feel good about yourself. Such a difficult thing to do during the age we live in with media like the Swan, and America's Next Top Model being shoved down our throats, but Eve works to show us that ALL women of all sizes, shapes, and colors are beautiful.

I was inspired by Eve Enslers new play to come up with "The Good Body MeMe".Let's see if we can start this off and keep it rolling to blogs all over and get women feeling Good about themselves...Let's give it a try. Here is your mission should you choose to accept it.

Pick one thing about your body that you are proud of, that you love and then tell us why. It can be your hands, your hair, your feet, your butt, whatever it is about yourself that you truly feel "Good" about. If you don't have a camera to take a pic of the body part, that's okay. Just by saying what it is and why you like it, will get the Good Body vibes flowing. Pass it on!

The Body part I Love is:

My Stomach, because it's flat but curvy, strong, but feminine. I Love my stomach because it is my center, my core that stabilizes the rest of me, balances me, and powers me through all of my physical challenges each day. It is the muscle I use to pull myself out of bed every morning, and that is no easy task. It powers me through walks with Pugsley in the cold night air, and runs on the treadmill when I don't think I have it in me to go the distance. When I'm stressed, it helps me to calm down by breathing deep down to my lower abs and then exhaling. I Love my stomach.

What is it you Love about yourself?

Well, I certainlly don't love my stomach! Or my butt! I have entirely too much of those to love, however, I have pretty eyes and nice teeth. I like to think that these two features draw the eye towards them and away from everything below the neck!

If I had your stomach, I would love it too. Any recommendations on having a tummy like you ;)

Funny Lauren!! To be honest, I thinks it's my magic combination of stress and IBS that keeps my metabolism going, LOL...sad but true.

But seriously, I want to know what YOU all Love about yourself. I want to see this MEME on your ladies sites and then your friends sites and so on and so on.

Of course Lori, will do! It may have to wait till Monday though. I don't have my camera with me, plus I won't have access to my blog until then.

I like my nose. It goes up like a ski slope, like my mom's did. My mom always said people get plastic surgery to have a nose like ours. Tho she told me mine wasn't as perfect as hers That's my boast for the day.

I am so bad! I keep forgetting to do this! I'm sorry!

I guess my best feature is my smile (so I've been told). I'm so critical of myself so it's hard to find the best feature.
