Two Wolves
November 2, 2005
wolf5.jpg

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between two "wolves" inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility,
kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

Or, in my case, don't feed!! I can sure go from good to evil in a hurry when I'm hungry!

Love that. I know 3 little nephews who will be hearing that story. Thanks to you and to Jim for sharing it.

Neat story. My problems sometimes come about when other people feed my anger-wolf. Sometimes I just can't stop them.

And the evil wolf definitely bites the hand that feeds it, whether mine or someone else's.

I hear you LB, I am facing the exact same challenge this week.

Further proof supporting the old Cherokee's theory for why you shouldn't feed the evil wolf. Even if you're feeding it just to be nice and accomodating, it will just turn around and bite you anyway.
