"Remember you are dust and to dust you shall return".

In case you haven’t guessed it already, I’m giving up refined carbohydrates for Lent. This year I needed to choose something I could actually succeed at. Quitting certain other things right now would only be setting myself up for failure. Make no mistake, this one will be a sacrifice, but I know I can do it.

My original plan was SBD and no carbs at all for 2 weeks. Now, I am planning on adding another 33 days where I will not allow myself any of the white stuff. No starch, no white flour. No cane. That means Slump only with whole wheat pasta. It won’t be easy.

But I look at it like this -- Back in biblical times, there were no refined carbohydrates. It was man and technology who came along and decided to “refine” natural foods into an unnatural process and where did it get us? Overweight with heart conditions and cholesterol problems that’s where. There was no unbleached, unbromelated, enriched, polysaturated gluclocomate, or hydrogenated fats back in the day. I don’t recall any foods being written about in the good book save for wine, water, meat, fish, dairy, nuts, fruit, and vegetables. And the only starchy carbs you ever heard about were whole oats and grains. That’s what I’m talking about, getting back to basics. Organic living. Detoxing. Purifying. At the end of the day, I’ll be able to out fish my brothers and have fulfilled my holy obligation.

Sounds like you're getting a little competitive this year on the fishing thing....here's hoping you land a bigger dandy than your brothers...

Of course I will deny writing this in front of your brother :)

Based on your pictures you don't look like you need to lose any weight. but I can understand wanting to be fit and healthy. If that is what your going for, then good luck...just don't get too skinny like some do. Women should be curvy and soft and have some meat on their bones, in my male opinion.
