Ice Scream!
July 05, 2006

pinkice.gifI never eat it in the fall, winter, or spring. Only summer. I ‘spose in addition to my texture, taste, color, smell, and ingredient issues with food, I also have a temperature thing. I can only eat ice cream when it’s HOT HOT HOT. Except for my birthday in January, then I make the exception for Carvel ice cream cake with the chocolate crumbles and blue gel icing. Yum.

The way I see it, that gives me the next 2 summer months to eat ice cream to my hearts content. My favorites are Carvel cherry dip in a wafer cone and soft serve vanilla with mixed sprinkles. For hard serve, I like pistachio (but it has to be green) and bubblegum flavor, raspberry, and strawberry. Generally speaking, I like all the hard flavors that come in the color pink. Hmmmmm.

The best selection I’ve yet to find at the grocery store has got to be Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked. Which if you didn't know is chocolate & vanilla swirled together with big chunks of fudge brownies & gobs of chocolate chip cookie dough twisted into one delicious frozen medely of arguably the best cold munchie food ever.

Ahhhhh, but I wonder what other tasty treats await my sampling? I’d sure hate to think there is something else out there that I might be missing. I spent a good portion of my weekend just thinking about ice cream and all the flavors I've yet to try. So on this hot summer day, I am opening the Blog up to recommendations.

Pray tell, what is your favorite flavor?

I'm not sure if you know about Mayfield's ice cream, but they have a flavor called Moose Tracks. It is vanilla ice cream with a fudge swirl and peanut butter cups thrown in. YUMMY!

My second favorite is B&J's Chunky Monkey... good stuff!

Love your site... I've linked to you and read you every day. Love Pugsley and all his pictures:)

BIG ice cream fan here....

Find yourself some Haagen Dazs Pralines N Cream, Ben & Jerry's Mint Chocolate Cookie, Baskin Robbins Tiramisu (seasonal), or just simple Edy's Cookie Dough! YUM YUM YUM! I also love soft serve vanilla but it has to be on a cone! Sometimes I don't even eat the cone - I just like to lick it off the cone. Also, if I have coffee ice cream it HAS to have something chocolate on it - sprinkles, cookie crunches or fudge!

mm...I love coldstone creamery's sweet cream with rainbow sprinkles, B&Js Cherry Garcia (I like the popsicles of this the best), and even tho i don't like coffee itself i love me some mocha almond fudge. In north beach, however, which is the italian district, we have Gelato shops and my favorites there are spumoni, and bavarian mint.
My mom was so obsessed with Carvel ice cream, they don't have it here...but when i went to connecticut i had it for the first time...yum!

You haven't lived, if you haven't tried Graeter's...it has even been listed on Oprah's Holiday list! It's a Cincinnati-based shop with online ordering available -- give it a try! Can't go wrong with their homemade big chunks of chocolate in every bite! YUM!

Oh, if only I could exist solely on ice cream...I would be a happy girl. My personal favorite is Espresso Bean from Gelati Celesti - a little ice cream shop famous down here for it's homemade italian style ice cream. The perfect blend of hard and soft and oh so creamy. Second would be Schwan's Chocolate Frozen Yogurt. Yes, Yogurt...but if you didn't read it on the carton, you'd never know. It tastes like Hershey's Kisses. Last but not least, if we're talking about grabbing some 'scream at a grocery store, it's got to be Haagen Dazs Coffee. When I'm sick, I'll buy a pint and eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I'm a big fan of anything with peanut butter in it. Reese's nightmare, at local ice cream shop in my town is AWESOME. The other day my mom and I had a hot fudge Sunday for dinner. It cheered us up.
