For Pug Lovers Only
September 20, 2006

This one is going around the Pug rescue community, a wonderful tribute to seniors from LAPR.org in California. I must warn you to have the tissues handy.

Lori, the tears are streaming. Excellent post! Your heart is in the right place to do what you do. You will be rewarded greatly for your unconditional love and devotion to animals. They give so much and ask for so little in return. Give Pugman a hug for me. Glad to hear things are steady. All the best, I will keep you both in my prayers.

That was great Lori! My boyfriend has a senior pug named Gizmo. He is 11 years old and last year he was diagnosed with diabetes. His eyesight is gone now and he needs to eat special food and have insulin injections twice a day. It is a lot of work and it is is expensive to take care of him. Many people ask my boyfriend why he doesn't just euthanize him. They assume he must be miserable and they say it must be a hassle to take care of him. My boyfriend tries to make them understand that he loves Gizmo and knows that he is not unhappy. It's true! As long as we take care of him properly he doesn't suffer and he is still affectionate and spunky and enjoys his walks. His eyesight may be gone but his other senses have improved. In his own home, you wouldn't even know he was blind and his trust in us is so touching when he take him our on his leash. Gizmo has given my boyfriend unconditional love his whole life, the least my boyfriend feels he can do is return that love. Thanks for bringing this to our attention Lori, it's a message that needs to be heard.
