let freedom ring
July 04, 2007

On this day we in the United States celebrate our Declaration of Independence.
us_declaration_of_independence.gif

In it’s literal meaning:

Independence noun: freedom from control or influence of another or others

So on this day I try to take mental note of all my personal liberties. Those that are newfound, those that have been earned after long painful battles were fought and won, and those that are our basic constitutional rights as citizens of this great and awesome country. We musn’t take our everyday freedoms for granted.

Freedom from past relationships that didn’t work
Freedom from previous jobs that sucked
Financial freedom
Freedom to vote
Freedom to register as an Independent
Freedom of speech
Freedom to write
Freedom of thought
Freedom of expression
Freedom of choice
Freedom of religion
Freedom to educate
Freedom to work
Freedom to create art
Freedom to eat
Freedom to drink
Freedom to celebrate and be merry
Freedom to sulk
Freedom to dance
Freedom to take naps in the middle of the afternoon
Freedom to dress in any wardrobe
Freedom to marry or not marry
Freedom to change anything that doesn’t add value to our lives

What freedoms are you most grateful for?

I agree with all your personal thoughts and I strongly believe in everyone. But I like the way you put the last one. That covers so much territory and means so much. If more people used it, instead of trying to encroach on others life and beliefs, the world would be a better place. Do what adds to your life and let others do their thing. I like it.

And for my forefathers who actually
fought to make the world what it is today...a free country!
Adios!
