Meet my latest toy, the Flip. It's a tiny, paired down video recorder as sleek and small as my digital camera, only you hold it upright. Apparently in the year since its invention, it has taken 13 percent of the camcorder market according to the manufacturer, Pure Digital. This is the newest model called the Flip Ultra, available in assorted colors. Mine is pink like this one. I bought it on Amazon for $119.00 w/ free shipping. Love it because it's tiny enough to throw in my bag on the way out the door. Never know when you may get the urge to do a little filming. Easy enough to point, click and shoot in any situation.
It's a no fuss, no nonsense, bare bones recorder that basically does the job. For the price of course it is not perfect. There is no flash, no high def, no memory card and only 2X digital zoom so when you blow up the video it does get a little blurry. But, for what it is I think it rocks. You can store 60 minutes worth of digital footage, there is no complicated manual to read. You point and shoot. That is it. No annoying tapes, discs, or wires. The USB slides off the side and plugs right into your computer port. Best of all the software it comes with allows you to plug it in and upload directly to YouTube, AOL, MySpace, or email.
Here is the first clip I uploaded, it's Pugsley acting all tough like he is going to bite my hand. He doesn't scare me.
