I have officially crossed over to the dark side. After many years of my well documented loathing - I have finally succumb to the skinny jean.

As I bow my head before you in shame allow me to share my lesson in humility and how the transformation occurred....
After a recent trip to NYC, where I take my fashion cues from the women on the streets of SOHO and Manhattan.... it suddenly became very clear to me that the Skinny Jean is really the only way to rock the tall riding boot.
A fall/winter wardrobe staple.
The key I now realize is to make sure you get a pair that fit in all the right places....and that you pair them with the right tops, long layered tops work really well. To my surprise, done correctly they are way comfortable and you don't have to be tall and thin with the same hip to waist ratio - even shorter women with some curves can pull off the look.
Of course you realize I am now just one step away from ballet flats and leggings. But we'll deal with that another time.
For now let's just see if I can still fit into my skinny jeans after Thursday with all the turkey and carbs I'm planning to eat.
My money is on no.

The main thing here is not the Skinny Jeans - it's all about the BOOTS.
The jeans are just a means to an end..... to be able to wear those tall boots that I have like 4 pairs of :)

damn girl, i would kill to be able to wear skinny jeans AND tights and ballet flats! these look awesome on you!!!! rock it out while you can, lori!!!!!
btw, back in my heyday, the 80's, i had a badzillion pair of boots, and i was able to buy these little 6 inch pieces of elastic with grippers on both ends, like suspenders have, and you hooked one on the bottom of your your jeans leg, put the other under your foot and hooked the other one on the other side of your jeans. instant stirrup pants that stayed perfectly in your jeans.
i wonder if you could find these again, maybe in a shoe store, or accessory department in a department store. they worked really well.
hope you had a great turkey day, and if you do the leggings and the ballet flats, i want to see pix!!!!! xoxo
