Prayers for Sophia
December 15, 2009

*****UPDATE******

Sophia is awake and going home in a few hours! Updates on her healing process to come. Everyone's positive thoughts for her helped! Thank You!!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tough news.
Poor Sophia our little Curly Tail Pug Rescue mascot is going in for surgery tomorrow....she has to have her foot amputated at the hock joint. Because of her spinal bifida condition, the risk of infection is too big a threat to her life to not have it removed :(
Please keep Sophia in your thoughts and prayers. She has been such a tough little spitfire and has been through so much already in her 1st year of life.
Plum and I will be thinking gentle thoughts all day tomorrow.
Our thoughts and prayers for Sophia but also for Drea her real guardian angel.
I wasn't aware of problems with her foot. What has the spina bifida got to do with her foot? This is so sad. Sophia will definitely be in our prayers. Her zest for life will get her through!
Becky the bubble on her back is incredibly dangerous because it is prone to bacterial infections. Because that bubble is filled with spinal fluid, an infection there would go straight to her brain, causing meningitis. If the infection didn't heal it could also cause sepsis, blood poisoning. Basically her raw, open foot is exposing her to multiple sources of infection b/c of her already compromised condition if that makes sense. poor little gal
So glad Sophia can be at home tonight with Drea.
Drea must be exhausted with all the worry but I am sure she will be up all night checking on her.
Glad to hear she is home. No, I know what the spina bifida is, I meant what happened to her foot to be raw, open? Was that due to the cart, like her foot dragging, or another birth defect? Is she still supposed to have the surgery for the spina bifida in the future? She is such a sweet looking little girl, I'm very thankful she has Drea.
Oh, Gotchya!
She had started chewing on her feet last spring after sustaining an injury from a foster puppy. You can read the whole story and her prognosis here:
