Healthcare Reform - Happy the Bill Passed or Not So Much?
March 22, 2010

I for one am hoping for a repeal that will exempt individuals from being required to purchase insurance and exempt employers from having to offer this substandard govt health care to their staff when there is already great coverage in place.

Don't get me wrong....I think it's great for people who don't have insurance and need it, but I do not think it's fair to make people who don't need it or want it have to pay for it.

My awesome company currently pays 100% of my health care so how does this help me if the government takes that away??

The higher taxes that employers will be imposed with will make it impossible for them to continue doing that.

So yea this totally sucks from my perspective, a huge loss of benefit.

I'm about to buy my first house and the last thing I need is to pay even MORE taxes and have less net income. The gov't is already sticking me for 40% of my gross salary. How is a person supposed to get ahead when close to half of their earnings are being stolen each week?

What is your opinion?

Lori I am definitely NOT a fan of big gov't.
They screwed up SS and medicare.
They say there is 500 billion in medicare fraud but do nothing only they say they will stop it, well why haven't they tried to stop it before.
God help you if they deem your health plan a Cadillac plan they will tax it at 40% of its value so get ready to pay $4000 or more per year in taxes.
What happened to transparency in gov't the big O is a BS artist even worse than the others.
How is this for a plan NO more life long people on welfare.
We will give you health care but welfare for only 2 years if you can't find a way to make it in 2 years too bad, you may be a bum but at least a healthy bum.
On a lighter side Emily, Lola, Sunshine and Lilly have the Cadillac health care plan, they get better care than me.

Lori I must say it is a sad day in America when they pass something this huge and clearly a vast majority of people do not want this bill.
For the first time in my life I feel I live in a dictatorship and actually feel helpless and lost. I actually feel the government wants all my money and everything I have worked for and earned for them to distribute as they see fit.
This bill is constructed to eventually give you no choice in health care.
Don't be fooled this bill is all about control.
Why don't they understand the country is bankrupt.
I move machinery for a living and believe me industry is moving OUT of this country and with it goes jobs. We are closing more plants everyday and shipping many overseas.
All I have to say is America please wake up, we are on the brink and ready to go over the edge.

I'm living in the U.S.A. now and am American by birth but I've spent most of my life in Canada with my canadian family. Universal health care is nothing new to me and I have trouble understanding all the fuss about it. Many countries have it and the people there enjoy a very high standard of living. And they have the added benefit of knowing should something unexpected happen they will not lose all they have to pay medical bills. Even with insurance the cost of health care is astronomical here. The standard of care here is admittedly better than what I experienced in Canada. But when I got in a car accident in canada, I received excellent care and physiotherapy for months after and I lost nothing and did not have to worry about bills or my insurance refusing to pay. It's worth it. THe sky is not falling. Just give it a chance and you will see it can work. Maybe it's the Canadian in me but I just happen to believe health care should be a right and not a privilege in any civilized country.
