That makes two of us!
No justice for the woofies.

I have followed this closely and fearfully disagree with your disgust. The guy was a monster, no excuse for what he did back in his dog killing days. He went to jail and I believe the system worked here. He has continually volunteered and been an advocate for animal welfare since he got out. His whole demeanor and attitude has changed. He is a changed guy. I have never been a Vick fan, but I respect the fact that he is now a better person. God forgives, so should we.

@ liam - I think you have to actually be remorseful to deserve forgiveness (even in God's eyes). The fact in this case is the man is not a bit sorry for his actions, he is only sorry that he got caught.

Yes, he launched into a public "damage control" campaign that included monetary donations and a volunteer agreement with the ASPCA that was very carefully orchestrated around the time that he was due to ink a two or three year contract worth at least $5 million.

But the fact is, he has never paid for the abuse or even apologized for it. He skirted around the issue on 60 minutes interview and came off as arrogant and not a tad bit apologetic.

Fact: Michael Vick has never faced his "real" animal abuse charges in court (b/c our judicial system is so f'ed up and lack of animal rights in this country) and because of that, football fans and the public were spared the most disturbing details of his sadistic cruelty and torture.

For further factual reference, I will refer you to blog entry 1391, Has Michael Vick paid his debt to society

Lastly, I would leave you with this one thought - if you had a son, would you be comfortable with him idolizing this man as a role model?

Hope you are well.

I dont think Vick is a good speaker, and in front of the cameras I think he freezes. Those tv set up dialogues mean nothing. I am going on what his teammates are saying. I am going on what his coach is saying. He is a changed man. He no longer hangs out nor supports his hood rat friends. This was sadistic and cruel, but the punishment changed him, he has been humbled. He is not the person he was. You can't measure a persons character by what he answers in front of a camera. Some people are not good under pressure. His peers tell stories of a man who realized he was an asshole and is doing his best to distance himself from that guy. Also, keep in mind that Vick is no Einstein, as in he is a dumb fuck. Pulled out of a project and handed 10 million, tough for anybody to not find trouble. Be mad at the old Vick, give the new one a chance to prove himself. Hope you are well as well. BTW- its easier to buy tickets on stubhub than it is to comment on this blog.

You make some valid points, I'll give you that.

At the end of the day I guess it's only Vick himself who really knows if he has changed, and it's only a higher power to judge his worthiness of redemption...

From an animal advocate standpoint though, as someone who fights tirelessly everyday to be the change I want to see in this world, I am still disturbed and stand by my beliefs.
